A little bit of history. . .

In 1798, John Varley introduced dog agility to the public for the very first time. At the time dog agility was considered more as entertainment than actual competition. Varley and a well-known trainer Peter Meanwell led dogs through a agility course with weave poles, a tunnel, numerous jumps, and other agility equipment well known today by handlers. The crowd and breeders in attendance got to see how thrilling and exciting dog agility can be. Soon after, the sport exploded in popularity and competition started to pop up everywhere.

By 1986 The United States Dog Agility Association (USDAA) made dog agility an established sport in the U.S. Fast forward to today, and dog agility is recognized worldwide with hundreds of competitions happening every year.
